about

Debut EP, recorded at home after countless metamorphoses.

"There's little you can do when you're suddenly hit by a storm of pervasive sensory stimuli that send you into doubt, an itch in your brain, between diving into introspection, dancing, or even getting into a cycle of mixed feelings. Mixed, not conflicting: it is a harmonious intertwining of contrasting sensations. And this is the delirium presented in this release, the EP Mefistovalsas by the duo Máquina Delírio (which translates as Delirium Machine).

Formed in the city of Florianópolis in times of pandemic and operating in the good old DIY style, Máquina Delírio is born intriguing: it is a profusion of almost cosmic and hypnotic musical emanations, provided by the efficient combination of the drums and sfx of Erica with the guitar and voice of Ricardo. Its meandering and sonically hedonistic movement contains elements of garage rock, psychedelia, and experimentalism, walking serenely without stepping on common ground, providing a sound sufficiently original to attract, entertain and captivate.

Mefistovalsas is composed of only five tracks in just over fifteen minutes in length. It ends up in that bittersweet feeling, divided between the pleasure of the experimentation and the frustration of not having more material to check after the audition. And this feeling, logically, is proof that the repertoire presented was satisfactory and efficient. The recording, mixing, and mastering of the EP, carried out by the band itself, is efficient. Although not perfect, it meets the requirements and satisfies. The greatest strength resides, of course, in the sounds and compositions, which have the swaying tracks Trilha de Amor ao Rancho and Arrisco de Temporal as highlights. Daring to present similarities and comparisons, I could attribute elements and influences from groups like Tame Impala, Boogarins, BIKE, and the like.

Mefistovalsas is well pruned and concise, but in its short duration, it offered me a universe of immersion and sensations. In my opinion, it is not music to be banally just listened to without a more adequate state of mind. It is a record to be absorbed and experienced with attention, parsimony, and goodwill. Thus, more and more nuances can be unveiled with each audition, making the experience even more gratifying and pleasurable."
